Welcome Back Falcons!
This is the image for the news article titled Welcome Back Falcons!Dear Francis Wyman Families:

Well the big day has finally arrived and we are excited to welcome ALL our students back to school for the 2021/22 school year on Monday, August 30th. Students will be able to enter the building starting at 8:20am and the morning tardy bell will ring at 8:35am. Unfortunately, due to continued COVID restrictions, NO parents will be allowed to enter the building during this time so we remind you to say your farewells and give final hugs in the outside courtyard areas if needed. Student dismissal will begin at 2:40pm. Please review the Parent Drop Off & Pick Up procedures that were instituted last year. We will continue using the same procedures, and will adjust as needed throughout the year. At this time there are no restrictions in the number of students allowed to ride the bus to and from school. It is our hope that the bus schedule will be ready for publication today and will send that out via email as soon as possible. Due to the current Covid circumstances, however, we are prepared for an increase in the amount of parent drop offs and pickups here at school. We ask that you be extra cautious and patient as this process may take additional time during the first few days while we teach/review these procedures with ALL our students and work hard to ensure every students’ safety as they arrive and leave our school grounds. Safety is always our number one priority!

If you are planning on having your children walk or ride their bikes to school independently, please send a written note to school indicating they have permission to do so. We will keep this permission on file in the office which will allow them to do so until further notice.

Teachers will be working incredibly hard during the first few weeks to help students transition comfortably and confidently back into the classroom. Students’ emotional well being will be our top priority as well as establishing strong, positive relationships with all students as we foster engaging and supportive classroom communities. As indicated by Superintendent Conti in his earlier newsletter, all staff and students will be required to wear masks while inside the building. Students will be eating snack and lunch in their homeroom classrooms, allowing an opportunity for masks to be removed during this time. An additional mask break will be incorporated into the morning schedule, afternoon academic time, and during outdoor recess. Additional mask breaks may be incorporated into the school day at a teacher’s discretion. Lunch will be available for FREE every day and you can find the monthly lunch menu on the district website. Please note that the Free/Reduced Lunch form should still be completed if you’d like to receive a PEBT card.

At this time, all elementary students will receive an assigned iPad to use for instructional purposes at school only. Individual iPads will remain at school at the end of the day for charging.

We are happy to announce that Rebecca Farnum will be joining our staff as guidance counselor for Grades 1,3, and 5 this academic year. After 17 years of service to Burlington schools, Amanda Christiansen took a position closer to her home. We are sad to see Mrs. Christiansen leave, but welcome Mrs. Farnum as a new FW Falcon.

Please consider joining the FW PTO and signing up to receive the Falcon Flyer by visiting FW PTO. Our PTO does an amazing job supporting FW enrichment programs that benefit all classrooms and teachers. The Falcon Flyer is a valuable resource for obtaining current school and community information.

I look forward to having the energy and enthusiasm of our students back in the building again next Monday. Thank you again for your continued support and willingness to partner with us in the midst of these challenges. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,
Nicole McDonald
FW Principal
